AAAS comes to Canada! For the first time in 30 years, Canada is proud to host the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s (AAAS) annual meeting in Vancouver, BC. More than 50 countries will be represented at the AAAS annual meeting and speakers alone represent more than half of the world's top 200 universities, colleges, and research institutes.

Fourth Joint Canada - US Extended Continental Shelf Survey in the Arctic - August-September 2011

Canadian Scientists under the leadership of the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) and the Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) will be onboard the Canadian ice-breaker CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent and the United States ice-breaker USCGC Healy from August 18th to September 29th to conduct a joint survey in the high arctic. They will collect scientific information to assist in defining the outer limits of Canada's extended continental shelf pursuant to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Diverse organizations such as the Canadian government, research partners and NGOs attended the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s (AAAS) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC with the goal of communicating Canada’s commitment to innovation, creativity and excellence to one of the world’s largest gatherings of scholars and scientists.

Salish Sea Expedition - October 2010

The Salish Sea Expedition was a five-day journey that brought hands-on, interactive science to high school students in five coastal communities in the Salish Sea region. It all happened on board the Canadian Coast Guard Vessel “Vector” which was equipped with oceanographic and geoscience sampling equipment, and was staffed by scientists specializing in marine research and public outreach.
